THE PLAYERS FOUNDATION
Lonestar Soccer Club is committed to developing young men and women into champions on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.  Oftentimes, however, many of these bright young men and women who possess exceptional talent and dedication to the sport are unable to afford the opportunity to play select soccer.

 

The Lonestar San Antonio Players Foundation has been created with the ideal that every child who desires to play the game has the opportunity for success not only on the soccer field, but in life as well.

 

Research has proven time and time again that children who participate in team sports have lower drop-out rates, lower incidence of substance abuse, higher marks in the classroom, and exceptional character development and better self-esteem than their peers who do not engage in team sports. The impact of participating in athletics is obvious and important in shaping the youth of our community.

 

According to City-data.com 18% of families in the San Antonio area have an annual income below the poverty level according to data collected in 2007. The Players Foundation helps families in our club afford for their children to play soccer and create an opportunity for young minds to thrive by providing financial aid for those who qualify based on economic need.

 

We at Lonestar believe that “success is where preparation meets opportunity”, and that preparation requires your help. Please help us succeed in creating champions by joining the Lonestar Champions Foundation today.

 

The goal for the 2010-2011 Players Foundation campaign is to raise $25,000. This will offset about 50% of the financial aid awarded for the 2010-2011 playing year. Your donations are also fully tax deductible.

 

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPONSORSHIP

 

We are always looking for sponsors for events we host. We currently have two opportunities for sponsorship:

 

1. Annual 24-Hour Marathon - Every year, our teams play soccer for 24-hours without stopping. We typically hold this event at one location where every player and parent attend to play. Each player does their own fundraising, requesting pledges in return for their playing time. This is a great opportunity to become a sponsor. Sponsor's logos are prominently displayed at the playing location and on our website.

 

 

2. Annual COPA Lonestar Tournament - We host this tournament every February for teams U7 through U14. This has quickly become the largest Pre-Spring tournament in South Texas. Over 140 teams from around Texas come to San Antonio to compete. Our tournament page typically will receive over 1,500 views per day leading up to and during the tournament. This is an excellent opportunity for sponsorship. Sponsor logos will prominently be displayed on our website and our tournament location.

OLYMPIC CHAMPION	$500 donation (receives Lonestar Polo, Hat/Visor, and Umbrella)
WORLD CUP CHAMPION	$1000 + donation (receives exclusive Lonestar Gear)

 

In addition to your level of sponsorship, all members of the Foundation will be listed on the List of Champions on the Lonestar website (unless you prefer to be anonymous).
